Domestic Violence Against Men

Domestic violence (also named domestic abuse or family violence) is violence or other abuse in a domestic setting, such as in marriage or cohabitation. Domestic violence takes different forms which are Physical, emotional, sexual and even mental abuse.

When we think about domestic violence victims immediately our minds go to Women and Children, but it seems that we tend to neglect the third victim - Men. Why do we do this? We see a man as the head, the one who couldn't possibly be abused by a female because females are 'inferior'. And men who are abused find it hard to report it 'cause it is not normal or unheard of for a man to be abused. He is termed weak, not man enough.

According to research 576,000 men (2.5% men) and 1.2 million (4.8% women) were victims of partner abuse in 2018/19 equating to a ratio of two female victims to every one male victim. (Source www.mankind.uk.org)
In 2018/19 – 16 men (80 women) were killed at the hands of their current or ex-partner.

About 1 in 3 men experience sexual violence, physical violence and/or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime.
Nearly 41% of male victims first experience stalking before age 25.
Across U.S. states, nearly a quarter of men report some form of contact sexual violence in their lifetime. Approximately 1 in 10 men in the U.S. experience contact sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime and report some form of IPV-related impact. Commonly reported IPV-related impacts among male victims were fear, concern for safety, and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, among others.(Source CDC)

Some men are assaulted as a result of their sexuality by both men and women. They are made to do some obscene acts or those acts are carried out on them.
The world should know/learn  that in as much as women and children are victims, men are victims as well. Rape cases where men are victims are treated lightly and laughed at.

Society should start seeing men as who they are 'Human'. Humans with vulnerabilities, frailty and flaws all of which are the same with the female gender.

  2. Please the font with the background make it hard to read, improve on that.
And the picture that said men are abused every 14.6 seconds seems like an over exaggeration.
